This course is about the scientific principles, models, and frameworks that are used to understand human behaviour and performance in the context of human-system interaction.

It is accredited by the Chartered Institute of Ergonomics and Human Factors (CIEHF).

It will give you an opportunity to learn about fundamental concepts such as workload and use error, and to apply your skills in task analysis and interface design.

This course is suitable for engineers, designers, and project managers that have some familiarity with the basics of Human Factors Engineering, but are not experts.

At the end of this course you will have covered the following:

  • Understand the theory and practice behind the analysis of human-system interactions
  • Understand the HFE approach to system design
  • Gain experience of using fundamental HFE analysis and design methods
  • Understand the HFE approach to data collection and analysis

This course has five assignments that should take you 2-3 hours to complete. The assignments will be marked and reviewed by the Instructor, who will give you feedback on your progress. A pass mark is required on each assignment before the course can be completed.

Each module also has an ‘open book’ test which requires an 80% pass mark in order to proceed to the next stage of the course.

At the end of the course, a certificate of completion (endorsed by Liv Systems) will be awarded.

Once you are enrolled on the course, this is what you will get:

  • One years access to the on-line course material, videos, and interactive exercises
  • A downloadable booklet of the course text, images, and case studies.
  • On-line personal note taking

Digging deeper into Human Factors Engineering

Really enjoyed this module though the assignments really made me think but when the penny dropped I enjoyed the challenge. I have completed questionnaires in the past and during Psychology GSE many moons ago had to do questionnaire generating so the modules around this were very interesting. Going forward in my day job this area may well be leaned on quite heavily.
