Human Factors Engineers occupy a distinctive niche within the engineering and design community. Our work often centres on understanding and applying human-centred design principles across a broad spectrum of systems and products.

We often have to do this in projects with other engineers and stakeholders with different viewpoints.

In turn, this can often give rise to common challenges and issues.

We’ll go over a few of these challenges now, the reasons behind them, and what we can do to make our job easier.

While Human Factors Engineers face a unique set of challenges in integrating human-centred design principles, we should see these challenges as opportunities for innovation and positive impact.
